News & Updates!

My, my, my.  Where has the time gone? I'm now 27 weeks pregnant and entering my third trimester - I can't believe I have less than three months until baby #2 is due!  The rest of summer (and most of September) have simply disappeared.  The constant nausea finally subsided a few weeks ago, though the fatigue still comes and go.  And just for fun I'm now struggling with hip pain that's affecting my ability to walk for more than a few minutes and heartburn - both pregnancy issues I dealt with last time but unfortunately they're both worse this time around.  But all-in-all I'm hanging in there!

Finally managed to take a bump photo!

The big news is that Jay's official posting order has come through - we will be moving to London at the end of February! We've been allocated a house in the town of Ruislip, which according to Wikipedia is "a suburban area of north-west London, centred on an old village in Greater London and is part of the London Borough of Hillingdon."  Our house is walking distance to two different tube stations plus an overground train station, all of which will get us into central London withing 25-35 minutes!  So we're definitely looking forward to city living once again and having access to theatre, museums, cultural events and of course lots and lots of delicious (often American!) food! We're also going to be very close to Heathrow airport, so welcoming visitors will be so much easier than it has been here in Gibraltar. It'll be a little bit crazy moving internationally with a newborn (depending on when baby #2 arrives she could be anywhere from 7-11 weeks old and toddler (Ceci will be 2 months shy of 2 years old), but we're ready for the challenge (not to mention we have no choice, lol). Plus, being in closer proximity to family and friends will definitely be helpful as we adjust to life with 2 under 2!

In other big news, Ceci has started the transition from the baby room at daycare to the toddler room.  Normally they wait until 18 months to make the move (and Ceci will be 17 months this week) but the baby room is getting busy with young babies and Ceci is clearly ready to be with older kids.  They spend time in that room every day so thankfully  it's all familiar faces.  She did her first extended visit today and did great!  So if all goes well this week she'll start exclusively in the toddler room next week.  Ceci loves going to school so I'm sad to see her leave her teachers and friends in the baby room, but excited for her to have a little more independence and I think she's really going to enjoy the change.

Getting so big!
Ceci continues to grow and learn daily.  We are constantly amazed with her.  Her speech is coming along by leaps and bounds.  This past weekend I was asked how many words I thought Ceci used.  My guess was more than 50 but Jay thought it was closer to 30-40.  Our curiously piqued, and to settle our bet, we decided to make a list of the words that Ceci says recognizably and actually uses. Much to our surprise, we came up with 105!  And the list grows every day - just this morning she said "buckle" in her car seat!  She's a total sponge and is definitely very focused on speaking and communicating.  She's now able to ask for things using words and as I predicted that has been a huge motivator for her.  (Of course, we started off rewarding her for asking for something by name by giving it to her and now she thinks if she asks she should get it immediately - oh dear.)

Ceci's Words!

Very fittingly, she is recently obsessed with all things baby.  She loves pushing her baby doll around in her toy stroller, feeding the baby with her toy bottle and saying hi to the baby in mommy's belly (and giving her lots of hugs and kisses).  And when she sees babies at school or playgroup (even if I'm holding them!) she loves to say "hi baby!" and give them cuddles and kisses.  It's so sweet and we really hope it continues when the baby is born!

Ceci also loves being outside.  Now that the heat and humidity of the epic summer weather have finally faded and we're left with gorgeous days, Ceci is outside as much as possible.  One of her favorite pastimes is "splash, splash" which is how she refers to her water table on our patio. She loves splashing around in it, dumping buckets of water in and out of it, and 'painting' with water on the patio door.  Weekend mornings at the beach are another favorite - especially given that it's now EMPTY there most mornings.

She still loves singing and has added Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Wind the Bobbin Up and the ABCs to her repertoire. Here she is sort-of singing along the ABCs - her LMNOP is my favorite, lol.
