It's a...

It's been an exciting few weeks!  On November 26 we had our 20 week scan. Baby Clarke is doing well and measuring right on schedule. We asked the sonographer to verify the gender but instead of telling us we had her write it on a card. (Baby C wasn't fully cooperating but she said she was "70% sure she saw what she needed to see"....we figured that's good enough!). 

The following day (my birthday!) Jay and I gathered my mom (with Joe on the phone), dad, Kayte, Tommy, Luke and Adam on Skype, and Jay's dad and step-mom on the phone and we all opened it together.

And....

Italy!

On August 13, just a week after finding out I was pregnant, Jay and I went on vacation to Italy.  It was a bit of a whirlwind experience full of lots of emotions - excitement, anxiety, awe and exhaustion!

Exciting News!

Jay and I are so very excited to announce that we are expecting our first child! I'm due on April 12, 2014 and will be 16 weeks on Saturday!

I'm hoping to use this blog to keep our family and friends near and far updated on the growth of our little family!

A few dates to start the story:

August 6 - first positive pregnancy test

August 29 - first appointment with the midwife

September 15 - private early ultrasound (I was too impatient!) and first time hearing our baby's heartbeat

September 30 - first official ultrasound

October 1 - first appointment with the doctor

My next appointment with the midwife is on November 7. Our next ultrasound and appointment with the doctor is on November 26 and we'll be finding out if we're having a boy or girl then!

I'm not really showing much at all yet, but will post a baby bump picture as soon as one appears!
