6 Months!

Our little Ceci is celebrating her first half birthday!  My how time flies!

6 months old!
Who me?

No way!

I can't believe how much she's grown in such a short amount of time!

It's been such a crazy, surreal, wonderful, terrifying, challenging, absolutely amazing 26 weeks. We're so lucky to have such a special little girl in our lives!

At 6 months, Ceci is...

• Cutting two teeth. They seem to be taking forever to come all the way in and Ceci is chomping and drooling on everything in sight!

Delicious Frog in the bath

• Getting into everything. I turn my back for a second and she's across the room - not by crawling (though I fear that's just around the corner), but by rolling and turning. She's lightning fast. It's a little terrifying. She also loves playing with things she shouldn't - for some reason wipe packets ( trying to get them out and suck on them), diapers, piles of burp cloths and laundry (mostly pulling everything out of the pile and on top of her) are all much more fun than her toys.

I was gone two minutes - play mat all awry and somehow she opened the drawer?!

There's a buckle under the play mat she is fascinated with.

Pulling all of the toys out of her toy bag and tossing them around

• Still breastfeeding like a champ. The girl loves her milk. She generally has anywhere between 5 and 8 feeds a day (usually 6) plus a bottle of expressed milk before bath time. Some days she's super distracted and playful and so will only eat until she's not hungry rather than full then want to eat again within 2 hours. Other days she'll chow down a full feed and be happy for nearly 4 hours. I've found it's easier to go with the flow than try to schedule her. (Plus, she's bitten me a couple times while nursing during this teething frenzy so forcing her to eat when she's distracted is not high on my to do list).

• Starting to eat solid foods and LOVING it. For more on that, see my previous post about it! Here she is eating a plum on her first half birthday...

The one on the right started off looking like the one on the left!

• Sleeping pretty well. On an average night she sleeps 10-12 hours (bedtime between 6:30 and 8pm and wake-up between 7 and 8:30am) and wakes up once to eat somewhere between 12 and 5. It can also take a couple attempts to get her into her crib after we rock her to sleep.  On really good nights she then sleeps straight through the night and Jay and I count our blessings. On really bad nights she wakes several times within an hour of two of going to bed and needs to be put back to sleep and/or is up for 1-3 hours in the wee hours (I'm blaming her teeth!).  So it's a work in progress. But there are about as many really good nights as really bad nights, and most are somewhere in the middle.  So we're happy!  She also still moves like crazy in her sleep! Here's a few more Ceci sleep sightings:

Just a typical night

• Can find and put her paci back in all by herself - even at night (at least most of the time).  It's adorable to watch her little arm moving up and down the crib searching for it while she's still asleep, and she is remarkably persistent about getting it back in her mouth.  I think this has been a huge factor in her sleep improving!

• Still being held for all her naps. Teething and travelling have thrown a wrench in my grand plans to try to put her down in her crib at least once a day (or even once every few days) so we've decided to put a pin in it for now. Plus, her nights have gotten so much better overall that I've kind of made my peace with it (having Hulu Plus on my phone so I can put on headphones and get caught up on new episodes of my favorite shows while she sleeps doesn't hurt either).

• Quite the jet-setter. She's been back and forth from the UK twice and is now gearing up for her first trip to America in a couple weeks!
Total Pro
• Super expressive. And loud. She's more screaming than talking but does occasionally babble. Her favorite form of communication is blowing raspberries.

• Still in love with music. Nothing brings a smile to her face faster or calms her down more easily than a song. She also thinks my dancing is hilarious - naturally.  And still loves playing the keyboard.

• Taking baby swim lessons and loving it! I don't have any action shots yet, but am hoping to have some in a future post soon!

All ready for her first swim lesson!

• A very happy baby. Cecilia is a sweet, hilarious, super silly, adorable little girl and we just love her to pieces!

Just a little naked reading...
Hanging out.

And of course, the 6 month video! I'm sad to say I missed back-to-back days while in the UK - oops! So there are two days with pictures instead of videos. It was a crazy week that kind of blurred into one long day - boo!
