- Moving like crazy. She loves to stand, sit, roll, and generally move much further than we would like. She's not quite crawling yet, though she loves lifting her little bum up in the air, but she manages to make it across rooms.
Getting that little bum in the air
Leg up and reeeaaach
Pushing up - crawling is not far off!
The exersaucer is a new favorite - she loves to stand!
- Sleeping anywhere and everywhere. We even have a bit of a schedule now. She's usually up between 6:30 and 7:30am (more recently, closer to 6:30 - ugh). She takes two morning cat naps (25-40min) usually somewhere around 8am and 10:30am, either in the swing, car seat or stroller depending on what's on the family agenda. Then around 12:30-1 she goes down for her afternoon nap in her crib and is usually out for 1.5-2.5hrs. This coincides with Ceci's nap which is pretty spectacular and I really hope it continues as long as possible!! Then a really quick 20min cat nap around dinner time before going down for the night between 7 and 8pm. She's up for 1-3 feeds during the night but thankfully eats for 5-10 minutes then passes right back out and transfers easily back into her crib.
She loves her 'silky'
Going out to dinner was just too much
Loves napping in the stroller
Life is so hard when you're so small.
Play time got too intense
Since returning from America she's now in her big girl crib!
- On an adventure to London for work training with mumma! I have a new work-from-home data entry job for a locally based app and had to go into the city for training. Since Cali wasn't taking a bottle at this point, and we had yet to leave her with anyone but family or for longer than an hour or so, I asked if I could bring her along. My new employer was very kind and said it was fine (it's an app for families so thankfully they're used to kids in the office!) Cali was a star. She was so good on the tube both ways and sat patiently and relatively quietly in my lap during the two hour training.
- Chewing on anything and everything. No teeth yet, but they've got to be coming soon!
- Enjoying lots of play time and loving with her big sister
Chill time on the sofa
Fun with Ceci and Dadda
Sharing Secrets
You sure she's OK holding me by herself, mom?!
- Eating solid food! We started just a few days ago since she was meeting all the required milestones and started desperately grabbing at our food and trying to get it into her mouth - she nearly succeeded a couple times! So before her first food was accidentally ice cream or a burger we started off. First she tried raw carrott sticks, more as a teether than anything else, and then the following day went for steamed carrots and butternut squash. It was amazing - she knew just what to do and immediately put the food in her mouth and started sucking, gnawing and chewing. She was totally a fan! The steamed veg got a little mushy pretty quickly so the scraps were put in a silicone feeder to help her hold on. She actually swallowed quite a bit! (And TMI - the evidence was in her diaper the next day!) She followed that up with some baked sweet potato and raw pepper. We also let her try a pouch of pureed fruit/veg (Ceci picked one out at the store but then didn't want it...waste not, want not, right)? Cali LOVED it. It had been in the fridge so was nice and cold and we had the Choo Me spout on it which I think felt really nice on her poor gums. The yummy puree coming out was just an added bonus! I held it in place and kept it squeezed up for her but she brought it to her mouth and did all the chewing/sucking on her own.
First taste of food - she knew right what to do!
Butternut squash!
This is much easier
Yummy steamed carrot
Tasty!
Mmmm sweet potato!
Really stuffing it in there.
Pouch time!
Mmm..spinach, apple and swede. She kept going back for more though!
- Taking a bottle!! We kind of went off track for a while after Easter but decided to pick it back up while we have reinforcements (Nan and Gramps are here! More on there trip in a later post). The last several days she's taken 3-4oz with no fuss or trouble just after dinner. Amazing! I think the key was trying a different type of bottle, she seems to prefer the Avent to the Medela (of course, since we have 10+ Medelas from Ceci!). Big girl even likes to try to hold it herself.
Here are the best outtakes and alternates from Cali's 6 month photo shoot:
And it wouldn't be a monthly blog post without her 6 month video:
Cali is a silly, sweet, chilled out little girl and we can't imagine our family without her!
