1 Month

I can't believe it, but Cecilia is 1 month old! It feels like only yesterday that we were still in the hospital and yet I can't imagine my life without her.

Ceci at 1 month...

• Eats like a champ (she loves to nurse!) every 1.5-2 hours during the day and is putting on weight like crazy!

According to her official weigh-ins, she regained her birth weight by day 5, another 4 oz by the end of her first week and then another 7 oz in week 2. On her next official weigh in at exactly 1 month she had gained an additional 1 lb 12 oz, coming in at a whopping 10lbs 14 oz (a total of 2 lbs and 7 oz above her birth weight and 2lbs 13 oz above her lowest weight!), putting her in the 91st percentile.  And we're still exclusively breastfeeding!

• Sleeps really well most nights (knock on wood!) in her little bed.

She usually falls asleep around 9 or 10pm and then wakes up to eat somewhere around 1am and 4am, and then is up for the day about 7:30am.  At her two nighttime feedings she generally eats for 10-15min and then goes right back to sleep which is amazing (though of course we have the occasional rough night with exorcist-style spit up or a wide awake little girl that has to be rocked or walked for over an hour, but they have mercifully been few and far between!). 

She is also pretty good at putting herself back to sleep if she wakes up during the night or during a nap- though she does so quite noisily, with lots of grunting, sighing and throat clearing, as if she wants us to know she's working hard at it!

 • Finally started to like bath time.

• Has fun during naked tummy time after her bath. She's already lifting her head up (though I didn't manage to get a picture)!

• Enjoys time in her bouncy seat and swing.

•  Has gorgeous blue eyes that have gotten lighter and deeper over time.

• Makes lots of sweet and funny faces.

• Loves cuddle time.

• Has started learning to take a bottle of breast milk. 

She managed 1.5oz on her first attempt at 4 weeks old - not too shabby.  Though the second attempt (with a different type of bottle) wasn't quite as successful, on the third attempt she took 3 oz!  So it's still a work in progress but we're getting there!  Our goal is to have Jay feed her one bottle a day to get her used to it so that in the future we could potentially leave her with a sitter for a couple hours or Jay could take over one night or morning feeding so I could get a little more sleep!

• Let's us know when she's not happy.

The infamous family saying "if Meghan's not happy, nobody's happy" does occasionally apply to my darling daughter.  My Mom and Dad will be so pleased, haha.

And finally, I have a little video to share. I made it using the 1 Second Everyday app. I wanted to capture Ceci every day of her life - though I've done so with both picture and video the pictures don't look quite right so for now I'll share the shortened version using only the videos.  Hopefully I'll be able to add the pictures in at some point and I plan to keep updating the video each month!
