This past month Cali has...
Officially started walking! She took her first little steps at the end of last month and then over the last few weeks has grown in confidence by leaps and bounds. She's now a proper little walker - she hardly every crawls now. And she just learned how to stand up without having to hold on to anything, so there's no stopping her now!
Started off slowly, a bit unsteady
After a few days she realized if she put her arms up she could balance
Just a few days after that she was getting really confident
Celebrated her first Thanksgiving. (More on our trip to America in a separate blog post!)

Had her first haircut. Those weird long strands and all over unevenness just had to go. While we were in America we had my cousin Amy do the honor. Cali was wiggly but good and her hair looks SO much better!

Seriously, where did these crazy long pieces come from?! |

Continued to eat, and eat, and eat. If anyone is eating, she wants to have some. She's also still nursing 4 times a day (wake-up, before her two naps, and before bed) and usually 2 (or sometimes 3) times per night. The nights are not ideal, but with all the teething, travelling and jet lag I'm not surprised. There's been progress, so we're continuing to ride it out. As with all things with both my girls, she'll do it when she's ready.
Mmm..chicken leg! |
Learned to say "THAT!" (at least her version of it) which she does at full volume, emphatically, while pointing at what she wants. And now that she can point and shout at what she wants, she gets endlessly irritated when we won't/can't give it to her.
Only 3 teeth! Poor kid has continued dribbling and gnawing but with nothing to show for it! That little top tooth is still all on its own.
Started brushing her hair when she picks up a brush or comb, trying to "talk" on the "phone" with lots of objects - remotes, play phones, occasionally stuffed animals! She also makes a Vrrmmm sound when playing with cars. Too cute. She's really into in and out, and likes to put objects in cups and boxes and then pull them back out. And she's just started trying to stack blocks into towers instead of just crashing them down.
Gotten into books a lot more. She's always liked books but she now likes to sit and read them and help turn the pages.(And yell "THAAAT" as she hits the pages).
Continued to adore her sister. She loves to give her hugs and kisses, lights up whenever she enters the room and finds her hilarious (as do we all). They've also really started playing with one another - chasing each other through the play tunnel, playing peek-a-boo, making music with instruments. It warms my heart (and also makes me hopeful that easier times are on their way!)
Here are the best alternates and outtakes from our 11 month photo shoot:
And here's Cali's 11 month video (sadly missing a couple days from my surprise hospital stay to have my appendix out and travelling).
Cali is growing so fast, it's such a joy to watch her learn and discover new things every day. We love you Cali!!
